I’m so tired of every fashion article suggesting the same “must-have” wardrobe essentials (always with affiliate links, of course!) White tees, jeans, and blazers. They’re all so boring. And they make everyone look the same.
Figuring out your essentials—what actually works for your style and life—is way more important (and a lot more fun). Loved this article! Such a refreshing take.
You're someone after my own heart! I can't tell you how many comments I get on YouTube every time I talk about how not everyone needs a basic white tee!
This was a great list, and I'm pretty similar in my tastes and views!
From your list, I do own a maxi skirt (but mine is blue and feels much more fun rather than effortless defined). I also have suede loafers (but they're almost like flats, rather than chunky)
Fully agree with the rest: No LBD, no plain white tee, no bodysuits, no summer shoes, and I own linen pants but mine are not the "classics" but a more ragged version - I like that contrast!
Yes to all of this! I found a beige trench coat in a thrift store yesterday but didn’t love how it looked on me. I wound up buying a short red raincoat instead, but it felt like I was resisting a screaming chorus of fashion bloggers saying that a neutral trench is a “closet staple.”
Yup! I was like this too for AWHILE butttt also doing my Color season (I’m a deep winter) has helped me understand what actually flatters ME more. (I don’t always follow it exactly though)
But it made sense as to why I wanted a navy trench over a standard beige one. or why I want to wear a red basic top over a white one :3
