A Delicious Tour of My Spring/Summer 2025 Pinterest Board
A cake inspired fashion tasting menu, of mood, metaphor, and personal style.
Welcome to a deliciously curated tour of my Pinterest board for Spring Summer 2025, think of it as a cake dessert tasting menu for the senses. In this essay, we’re diving deep into the sweet, tart, and creamy aesthetics that have caught my eye and made me want to pin, save, and savor.
Each pinned look is like its own distinct flavor: some are glazed with shimmer, others crumbly with texture, some dense and rich, while others are light and airy. Each has its own vibe, its own signature bite. As I dissect these flavors; color, fabric, silhouette, I’ll be giving them dessert inspired names, turning style into something edible and irresistible.
The goal? To whip together all these individual bites into one decadent, layered cake of inspiration that captures the mood I’m craving for spring and summer. Whether it’s a sharp, tangy tart or a soft, pillowy éclair, each piece adds its own note to this mouth watering series.
So get ready to feast on fashion through the lens of flavor, where every pin is a tasty treat, and the whole board is a recipe for style that’s sweet, subtle, and utterly satisfying.
Let’s dig in.
🥧 The Modern Milkmaid
Lavender Infused Spongecake
Delicate but durable. Floral and functional. A sweet girl with calloused hands and perfect posture.
Flavor Notes
🔧 Function First: cowboy boots, fur trimmed jackets, structured denim with roomy pockets — pieces that do things.
🪡 Milkmaid Touches: Subtle corsetry, small floral prints, puffed sleeves, shirring, and lace trims that nod to vintage farm wear without full cosplay.
🧺 Pasture Palette: Creamy Vanilla whites, milky blues, dusty overtones, faded rose, butter yellow; colors that feel sun faded and edible.
🍰 Undone Sweetness: A mix of rough and refined textures: cotton eyelet with true denim, lace with ribbing, embroidery with structure.
There’s a photo of Britney Spears on my board that speaks to me in a way I know it doesn’t for everyone else. At first glance, it’s unassuming: a floral top cinched with a red ribbon, low rise bootcut jeans, boots, and a warm tan shoulder bag. But the moment I saw it, something clicked. This isn’t just a cute outfit, it’s a blueprint. A formula I’ve been following instinctively for years: an eye catching top, a clean pant, and a grounded shoe. It’s not styled to be noticed, and yet I can’t stop looking.
I’ve always been someone who dresses from the top down. I love beautiful tops — intricate, delicate, the ones that make the outfit feel considered. I might favor my legs in theory, but in practice, it’s always the top that gets the attention. My bottoms tend to be understated, quietly doing their job. The drama lives above the waist.
That floral top, pulled in with a single red ribbon it’s that one detail that holds the whole look together. A little pop, not loud, just enough. And then there’s the practicality of it all. This is an outfit you can exist in. You’re not adjusting, or worried something might slip. You’re just… in it. Comfortable. Pretty, without trying too hard.
And the boots UGH of course! I’m a boot person through and through. My shoe collection is almost entirely of cowboy and chic boots or ballet flats, with one cork soled flip flop I wear into the ground every summer. I love a shoe that does the work for you. And boots always do.
But what really gets me is the glasses. I never wear mine, although I should, but they make my eyes disappear, and I love my eyes. Still, in this look, the glasses don’t hide her. They sharpen the whole thing, add a bit of that geek-chic edge I’m always drawn to. It’s such a subtle shift, but it changes everything. It says, don’t underestimate me.
And finally, that bag, a warm tan shoulder piece, nearly identical in color to one I just thrifted off Vinted some months ago. I don’t have this exact look in my closet, but I have every piece of it in spirit. A standout top, a low jean, a bag with some character, a boot, and a pair of glasses that say I’m smart and cute.
🫐 The Countryside CBK
Blueberry Chamomile Whip
Think CBK after a countryside sabbatical—three quarter sleeves, rain boots, and breathable tailored silhouettes. -Minimalism, muddied.
Flavor Notes
🫐 Blueberry Blue — powdery blue accents, cool toned layers, soft
🌾 Chamomile Linen — breathable fabrics in oat, ivory, and soft khaki tones; laid back but elevated
☁️ Three Quarter Cream — the under-appreciated three-quarter sleeve: elegant, breezy, and grown
🌧️ Rain Boot Ganache — rubber practicality, countryside chic, purposeful and polished
🪡 Tailored Simplicity — clean lines, flattering shapes, not minimalist but intentional
🦋 Bare Faced Elegance — no loud accessories; the palette speaks softly, the proportions say everything
🍶 Unrefined Sugar — natural textures, matte finishes, unstuffy silhouettes
If you had told me two years ago that I’d be yearning for cargo style pants or loose linen trousers, I would’ve laughed. I’ve always been a jeans girl through and through. Jeans or denim shorts, nothing in between. But over the past year, something’s shifted. Maybe it’s the monotony of my go to formula (a fun top and bootcut jeans), or maybe it’s the quiet practicality of countryside life finally catching up to me, but I’ve found myself opening up. A little less rigid, a little more curious.
Living among fields and farm animals, you start to realize your nice jeans deserve to be ruined by city dust, not muddy terrain. And so, I’ve begun exploring silhouettes that feel less precious; soft cargos, natural linens, pieces that still feel polished but won’t break my heart if they stain. Not the gorpcore, SHEIN cargos from 2020, but something subtler. That’s where my style seems to be heading lately: simpler, cleaner, more intentional.
It’s not just about the trousers either. One of my quiet revelations this year has been the three quarter length sleeve; something I now consider criminally underrated. I’ve always preferred long sleeves to short. They just feel more refined. But discovering the three quarter cut? A dream. It hits that balance between covered and breezy. It’s quietly elegant and, on me, far more flattering than a tank or baby tee. It frames the arm just right. It feels grown.
Another unexpected staple: my black Viking rain boots. Not the iconic Hunter pair, but their slightly humbler cousin. They’ve become a cornerstone of both my countryside life and what I imagine will be my future London wardrobe. There’s something about a good rain boot that feels both purposeful and stylish , protecting your sneakers while still saying something visually. I wear them often, usually on marshy, overcast days when a walk feels necessary, and they’ve never failed me.
There’s a particular image on my board of a woman, blonde, lithe, wearing a monochrome ensemble with that perfect three-quarter sleeve and wide leg pant. Yes, she looks like a model, but that’s not what captured me. It’s the proportions. The way everything sits just so perfectly, the hem of her top stopping exactly where it should, the trousers relaxed but not shapeless, the quiet precision of it all. That silhouette is what stays with me.
Now, if you’ve read my last piece, you’ll know I don’t do true white, it washes me out, makes me feel like a floating head. So while I admire the shape, I’d reimagine it in a palette I actually wear. That muted, plummy purple from the image beside it paired with that gentle olive khaki tone… now that would be me. And though I’ve never owned a pair of clogs (mostly out of fear I’d twist my ankle), I won’t lie: those in the pin are gorgeous. If I could borrow that palette, that silhouette, and swap the clogs for my vikings (in that baby blue color) I think I’d ascend. Truly. It's that good.
🌹 The “All American” Rookie
Rose Infused Dark Chocolate Ganache
Soft and subtle on the surface, with a rugged, bitter edge beneath. A sporty, effortless look with an all-American vibe and just a touch of sweetness
Flavor Notes
⚾ Varsity Red Glaze — vibrant blood red bursts, that add a fresh, sporty pop
🧢 Baseball Cap Crunch — casual, crisp topping with effortless cool girl energy
👖 Denim Crumble — sturdy, classic straight leg or bootcut denim; practical and a staple
👟 Black Converse Crust — worn in, nostalgic, perfectly imperfect foundation for every step
🎽 Team Spirit Swirl — layers of jerseys and baby tees; athletic, loyal and yet approachable
🏈 Practical Punch Filling — soft yet durable, made for movement and everyday grit
When it comes to the sporty varsity inspired part of my style, I’m not wearing a full on uniform, but I am throwing on a baseball cap with a baby tee and jeans, tapping into that effortless, athletic energy. It’s not preppy or prim, and definitely not the "clean girl" look. Think rugged denim, true red accents, and lived in black Converse. Sporty, casual, and cool without trying too hard.
Gisele Bündchen’s iconic baseball outfit captures this vibe perfectly; off duty, a little tomboyish, but still striking. That pop of red, that confidence? That’s exactly the energy I’m chasing.
This aesthetic leans into a summer version of “all-American”: less Lana Del Rey nostalgia, more real girl on the-bleachers. I love sports; tennis, football, formula 1 and I dress like someone who means it. Screaming at the ref. Running errands in a team cap. The energy is WAG core( wives and girlfriends of sport players), devoted, practical and passionate, with a large dose of cool girl ruggedness.
It’s casual but intentional. A nod to my high school self in Converse. A little tomboy, a little glam. Red, blue, stripes, sweat. It’s me; off duty, in motion, and fully in my element.
Writing this piece was more than just a fun stylistic experiment for me, it was a chance to explore a side of myself that often gets tucked away behind the more structured, polished writing I’m used to. I wanted this to feel creative, imaginative, even a little indulgent and I think it did. It gave me the freedom to play, to use metaphor and mood, and to let my personal style become something a bit more narrative, a bit more alive. I allowed myself to be dramatic, even theatrical at times, because fashion often is. It felt good to approach style like storytelling. Like baking something absurdly complicated and slightly unstable, just to see if it rises.
But underneath the metaphors and dessert names, there’s something deeper I wanted to get across, something I hope feels like a soft kind of lesson. Because this wasn’t just a mood board rehash. It was an exercise in self understanding.
I think we all have those chaotic, overflowing Pinterest boards; saved images from years ago, aspirational outfits that no longer speak to who we are, a mishmash of aesthetics we barely remember liking. And that’s okay. But at some point, it’s worth combing through them. It’s worth looking at all those images you were drawn to and asking, why this? What do these pieces have in common? What am I actually craving here?
Going through my own board, organizing it, naming things, breaking them down into categories, helped me understand what I reach for intuitively and what I’ve been missing. It reminded me that personal style doesn’t have to be one single, cohesive aesthetic. It’s not a brand deck or a color wheel. It can be messy, contradictory, uneve, like a cake with too many layers and clashing flavors. (Honestly, if you tried to eat my metaphorical “style cake,” it might taste like dirt, and Red 40.)
But that’s the beauty of it. That’s what makes personal style interesting. There’s power in realizing that being nuanced, inconsistent, and ever evolving is part of what makes us human. I’m not just the countryside girl in her rain boots, or the all American sports fan in Converse and a cap. I’m also someone who wants to wear a puff sleeve blouse and a lace ribbon and feel a little bit like a heroine in a half finished romcom novel. And that’s okay. I contain multitudes. So do you.
So yes, this piece was playful, a dessert tasting menu of looks and moods but it was also intentional. I wanted it to be an invitation. To get you to think about your own pins, your own style instincts, and to let yourself dig deeper. Organize the chaos. Create your own categories. Use your own metaphors. You don’t need a style label that already exists, make your own.
And if it ends up tasting a little weird along the way, even better. That means it’s yours.

I am so glad my fyp on substack recommended this post...it was so fun and refreshing to read! I've been searching for people con substack that can really keep my attention (I am in a "attention rehab" tbh thanks to tiktok and fast media content) and yours has totally inmersed myself in your vibes and thoughts about fashion for this summer. I loved it, please keep doing this type of posts! You have inspired me to try and organise my own Pinterest, to really ask myself why do I pin the different images I pin everyday. Kisses <3
Oh this was fun! I love Modern Milkmaid. I believe I have many elements already in my wardrobe, I will try them together. I personally enjoy a clog, but the main problem I find is that you sound like a horse, especially on wooden floors. There is no drifting quietly into a room when wearing clogs.
